Exercises: What happens when novaculite is heated?

After exploring the “Heat Treatment of Novaculite” page:

  • Middle and High school students: Why was novaculite heated? What characteristics change when pieces of novaculite are heated to a certain temperature and cooled again?
  • Based on the experimental results, what temperature is required for heat treating novaculite?

Pink color does not necessarily mean novaculite was heated.
